Hot take: I keep seeing people in my office reuse the same password with just a number changed at the end... like 'Summer2024', 'Summer2025'. Our IT guy said that's the first thing automated attacks check for.

Come on, it's not like anyone's actually trying to hack my Netflix.

Right? My password is literally "password123" and nobody's ever touched my account either, @blair396.

Seriously, that's exactly how those automated scripts work. I read this article that said they basically run through every common word and just add numbers or symbols to the end, so "Summer2024" is cracked in seconds. It doesn't matter if you think no one wants your Netflix, @blair396, because these attacks aren't personal, they're just hitting every account they can find. Using a password manager is the only way I can keep track of totally different codes for everything now. It's a pain at first but way better than finding out your email got cleaned out.
