I finally saw a public USB charging station at the Denver airport and it gave me pause
It was in Terminal B near gate 45, a whole bank of ports with cables already plugged in. I mean, they look so helpful when your phone is at 3%, but I've always heard they're a huge risk for data theft. On the other hand, maybe the risk is overblown and it's just a handy public service. Has anyone actually used one of these and had a bad thing happen, or is it mostly just a scary story?

My buddy plugged his phone into one at a mall. Next day, his social media started posting weird spam links. Had to change all his passwords. They traced it back to that charging port.

Those public charging stations can be sketchy for sure.

Honestly, I just carry a portable battery pack now. The peace of mind is worth the extra thing in my bag.
