My dad's 'put a password on EVERYTHING' advice finally bit me
So my dad has been telling me for years to password-protect every single account, every device, every little thing. I always thought he was being a bit much. But last month I was helping my uncle set up his new tablet and he wanted to share his Netflix password with me. I went to log in and realized I had locked myself out of my own email account because I changed the password and forgot it. I spent 3 hours on the phone with support trying to prove I was me. Dad was right about the security part I guess, but now I have a notebook full of passwords hidden in my sock drawer. Has anyone else had a family member's over-the-top advice actually backfire on you like this?

a hidden drawer of secrets lol" - that line got me. But here's something nobody's bringing up. What happens when you're not around anymore? Like if something happens to you, your family is locked out of everything. My buddy's dad passed last year and they still can't get into his email or Netflix account because nobody knew the master password for his manager app. Maybe your dad's advice was on point for security but nobody thinks about the disaster recovery part of this whole password thing.

Yeah did you try a password manager app instead of the notebook route? I was in the same boat with a million sticky notes until I bit the bullet on Bitwarden and it honestly saved my sanity. Makes it way easier to have crazy secure passwords without needing a hidden drawer of secrets lol.
