Pro tip: My cousin's story about a fake invoice email from 'his boss' changed how I see work messages.
He showed me the email at a family BBQ in Austin, and the sender address was one letter off from his CEO's real one. How do you spot a fake sender address fast?

My buddy got a text from "his bank" last month that looked real. The number was almost right, but the last two digits were swapped. He almost clicked the link before checking his actual bank app. Now he takes ten seconds to compare the sender line character by character. It feels slow, but it beats getting scammed. That extra look is worth it.

Yeah, it's scary how close they get. My neighbor had something similar happen with a delivery text. The sender was "FexEx" instead of "FedEx," just that one letter off. She was expecting a package, so she almost fell for it right away. Now she makes a point to never click links in texts about deliveries or bills. She goes straight to the company's website or app on her own. That extra step feels like a hassle, but it's the only safe way.

Oh come ON, that's EXACTLY what the scammers WANT you to do - waste your time staring at sender lines like it's some kind of high-stakes maze game. If you're paranoid enough to scrutinize every text character by character, you're already living in a scammer's world anyway.
