Serious question: Is two-factor authentication really worth the hassle?

I was at a coffee shop in Austin last week. Typing in my email password. Got a text code from my bank for 2FA. Phone was on silent in my bag. Took me like 5 minutes to find it. Meanwhile someone could've grabbed my laptop. But without 2FA, I'd be scared of hacks. Has anyone else almost locked themselves out of their own accounts with this stuff?

Ugh, yes, 100% same thing happened to me last month at a diner. I was trying to log into my email to check a receipt and my phone was dead in my car. Had to run out and get my charger. It's such a pain in the moment. But then I think about all those stories of people getting their accounts wiped clean and I'm like, okay fine, I guess I'll keep it on. The whole thing just feels like you're trading one kind of headache for another.

Does that fear of getting wiped ever actually stop you from using 2FA in a crunch, or do you just accept the risk?
