TIL about password managers from a coffee shop scare
Was working at a Starbucks in Dallas last week. Guy next to me had his laptop stolen while he ran to the bathroom. He freaked out about his bank accounts. I asked if he used a password manager like Bitwarden. He said no, just reused the same password everywhere. Got me thinking. I signed up for one that night. Now I sleep better knowing my login to Lowes isn't the same as my email.

@betht32 I get what you're saying but honestly I think people overreact to this stuff sometimes. Yeah getting your laptop stolen sucks but most banks and emails have two factor now so it's not like he was completely screwed. Password managers are fine I guess but they're also a single point of failure. You lose that master password or get hacked and now all your eggs are in one basket. Plus having to remember one really strong password is still just one password lol. I've been reusing the same 3 passwords for years and never had an issue. People act like you're gonna get hacked instantly if you don't use a manager but most hacks come from phishing or shitty websites getting breached anyway.

People really don't get how bad reusing passwords is until something bad happens... That guy at Starbucks learned the hard way. Password managers seem complicated at first but once you set them up it's a huge relief. I use Bitwarden too and it's crazy how many logins I have that I just forgot about over the years. Sleeping better at night is worth the little bit of effort for sure.
