Finally chose the gravel path over mulch for my backyard garden

My husband wanted mulch but I went with pea gravel because it drains better here in Portland (you know, the rain) and after three days of heavy downpour the path is bone dry, has anyone else dealt with muddy pathways ruining their garden look?

Lilys81, three days of rain is basically a Tuesday here. But I gotta disagree on the gravel thing - I tried pea gravel once and it just turned into a muddy mess that stuck to everything. Mulch at least soaks it up and doesn't track into the house.
