Finally cleared the clogged gutter on the garage after putting it off for 3 weeks
Put off cleaning the gutters on my garage for 3 weeks because I hate dragging the ladder out. Last Saturday I finally did it, and turns out a bird had built a whole nest in there plus about 2 inches of packed leaves. Took me 40 minutes with a trowel and a hose, and I got soaked when the water finally broke through. Small win but it stopped the drip that was hitting my head every time I walked out the back door. Anyone else find weird stuff hiding in their gutters?
A trowel is the wrong tool for gutter muck, a cheap plastic scoop or even an old spatula works way better since it won't scrape up the metal. The bird nest thing is real though, I pulled one out of mine last fall that was woven around a wad of fishing line and a cigarette butt. Two inches of packed leaves holds a shocking amount of water, so that drip was probably just the start of worse problems.
