Found a community garden plot behind the old hardware store on Elm Street

I was walking back from dropping off a last minute fence post order and noticed a gate I never saw before behind the building. Peeked in and there's like 12 raised beds back there with tomatoes and peppers growing. One guy was watering his plot and said they started it last spring with $200 from a neighborhood grant. I've been wanting to get into growing my own stuff but thought I needed a yard. Has anyone here tried joining a community garden? How do you even get a spot?

Peeked in and there's like 12 raised beds" reminds me of the time my buddy tried growing jalapenos in an old wheelbarrow.

@anthony426 I drilled drainage holes in a plastic tote and that jalapeno plant went crazy.
