Had to pick between cleaning the garage or finishing a book today

I was sitting there this afternoon with two hours to kill. I could either finally organize that pile of boxes in the garage or finish the last 50 pages of a novel I started last week. I picked the book and read it on the porch with a glass of iced tea. The garage is still a mess but honestly I felt way better after finishing that story. Anyone else struggle with choosing chores over relaxing stuff?

I mean, I kind of have to disagree here. Yeah, relaxing is nice but that garage mess isn't going to magically fix itself. If you put off chores now they just pile up and turn into a bigger headache later. Maybe it's just me but I find that sense of accomplishment from getting something done feels better in the long run than finishing a book. Reading is great but it's not like the book is going anywhere, you can always pick it back up tomorrow. The garage clutter on the other hand just sits there staring at you every time you walk past it.

Wait, you actually get a sense of accomplishment from cleaning the garage? Like, seriously? I thought you were joking but then you doubled down on it. I mean, I get that chores need doing but I wouldn't call it "accomplishment" more like "finally done being annoyed by it". Reading a good book actually gives me something to think about for days, not just a clean floor that gets dirty again in a week. But hey, if staring at tidy shelves gets you going, more power to you I guess.
