Saw a woman at the bus stop watering a sick fern every morning for two weeks straight
I noticed it last month at the 14th street stop near my work. Same woman, same sad fern in a cracked pot. First week it looked half dead. But she showed up every morning with a little water bottle. Not skipping a day. By week two that thing had new green shoots popping out. I never said a word to her. But it hit me how showing up consistently matters more than doing it perfect. Made me think about my own habits. I started watering my basil plant at the same time each day and it actually grew twice as fast. Has anyone else noticed how small daily routines can fix things you thought were gone?

14th and Vine right? I walked past her a few times last month and honestly thought she was wasting her time. I was wrong. It really does make you rethink your whole approach to stuff youve been half-assing.

@veramartin I get what you mean. Its wild how something that looks like its going nowhere can end up teaching you a big lesson. I watched a street musician a couple years ago who played for like 6 hours straight with barely anyone stopping. Felt sorry for them at first but then realized they were just putting in the work every single day no matter what. Made me look at my own lazy habits and feel pretty ashamed. Sometimes the people who seem like theyre wasting their time are the ones actually doing the hard stuff the rest of us avoid.
