Spent 45 minutes trying to get my new plant's soil to drain right.

Bought a fiddle leaf fig yesterday. Pot had no drainage holes. Figured I'd just drill some. Grabbed my cordless drill and a masonry bit. Bit kept slipping on the ceramic. Tried taping the spot, using water, everything. Finally got one hole after like 30 tries. Whole thing took almost an hour for one stupid hole. Anyone have a better method for this?

Figured I'd just drill some" is where it went wrong. I always use a ceramic drill bit for that, goes right through.

My dad tried that once, cracked the whole sink.

Ever try drilling into one of those thick glazed pots? I burned up a regular bit on one last year before I wised up. @hall.alex is right about the ceramic bit, but even then you gotta go slow and let the bit do the work.
