Tried cleaning my air fryer with a dishwasher pod. Huge mistake.

Saw a life hack online about putting a dishwasher tab in warm water to descale stuff. Figured my greasy air fryer basket would be a good test. Ran it for 20 minutes and came back to a foamy volcano all over my counter. Took me 45 minutes to scrub that sticky mess off. Anyone else fall for a cleaning shortcut that backfired?

But wait, isn't that just user error though? The hack says to use a tiny amount, not a whole pod, and you're supposed to let it dissolve first not just drop it in the basket and hit start. I mean, people blame the method but it's really about the operator sometimes.

The thing nobody talks about is how those dishwasher pods have a specific chemical mix meant to work with high pressure water jets and rinse aids. Dropping one in hot water just sitting there creates a reaction that's basically a science experiment gone wrong. I learned the hard way with my espresso machine trying to descale it with vinegar and water. Left it for an hour and the whole kitchen smelled like a pickling factory for three days. Sometimes the stuff labeled 'shortcut' just isn't worth the cleanup afterward.
