Update: My step counter hit 12,000 today without me even trying.

I was just doing my normal errands and house stuff, so seeing that number pop up on my phone after I got home made me realize I move way more than I give myself credit for, anyone else get a random win from their phone tracking them?

Read a study that said most people underestimate their daily movement by a huge amount.

My old fitness tracker said I walked maybe 3,000 steps on a lazy day. Then I got one of those apps that runs in the background and it was logging over 8,000 without me trying. Totally changed how I see just puttering around the house or office. I used to think if I didn't hit the gym I was basically a statue. Now I get that all the little trips to the kitchen add up more than you'd ever guess.

Oh great, so my phone knows me better than I know myself. "Random win" is one way to put it - I prefer "yet another reminder that my Fitbit is judging my life choices." I had the same thing happen where I hit 10K steps just from pacing around the kitchen while waiting for my coffee to brew. Suddenly I'm an Olympic athlete because I can't sit still during a three-minute microwave timer. But hey, at least my phone doesn't send me passive-aggressive notifications about all the times I ignored its nagging to go for a walk. Maybe I should just strap it to my dog and see if that counts as "movement.
