Warning: checked my tire pressure after 6 months of 'trusting the dashboard'
Found out my front tires were at 28 PSI instead of the recommended 35. Read a study from NHTSA that says underinflated tires cause 200+ highway crashes a year. Have you guys actually checked yours with a gauge lately?

Wait, you mean that little orange light on my dash is actually useful for something other than ruining my mood every time I start the car? I'm pretty sure my tires have been running on hope and prayers for the last year. Last time I actually checked with a physical gauge, I found out my spare was so low it looked like a deflated pool float. The dashboard is great for telling you when it's too late, but it won't warn you about a slow leak that's been bleeding air for months. I'm guilty of this too, but after reading that NHTSA study, I'm grabbing a cheap gauge from the auto parts store tomorrow. Better to find out your tires are sad now than find out on the highway at 70 mph.
