Warning: My vacuum cleaner died mid-clean and I almost lost it
I was halfway through vacuuming the living room rug yesterday when my Dyson just stopped. No warning, no weird noise, just dead. I spent 20 minutes taking it apart on the kitchen floor, found the filter was completely clogged with dust and cat hair. Has anyone else had one of these motors give out suddenly, or was this just my bad luck?

Filter 20 minutes. Dyson sells those as "washable" but the fine print says every 3 months. I bet you never washed it once. I didn't either until mine overheated and shut off. Let it cool down for an hour after you clean the filter. Should work again unless you really fried the motor.

I bet you never washed it once" - guilty as charged, guess I'll join the fried motor club soon.
