Am I the only one who thinks putting arcades in empty malls never actually saves them?
I was walking through the empty corridors of the Canton Centre Mall last Saturday and saw they stuck a retro arcade in the old Sears space, but it was just a sad row of 8 machines with half of them broken. I get that everyone wants to "bring back the 80s vibe," but that spot has been nothing but a revolving door of temporary pop ups for 4 years and the arcade is already cutting hours. Has anyone actually seen a mall get saved by this kind of gimmick, or is it just a cheap way to fill space for a few months?
