Appreciation post: the $12 bus pass that killed my startup's office lease debate
Back in March 2021, I ran a small dev shop in Austin and we were split on renting a $2,000 month coworking space versus going fully remote, and I argued the office would fix our team's focus issues. Last week, I found an old notebook where I'd drawn a map of a bus route that one employee took for 45 minutes each way to that office, and I realized we never once talked about commute time when making the call. Has anyone else found that the real killer in your failed startup was a cost everyone ignored, not the one you argued about?
