Hit 10,000 users on my app and thought we made it. Nope.

We peaked at 10,000 signed up users for this scheduling tool I built with my partner. Thought that was the big milestone, but turns out only 200 were actually using it weekly. The rest just forgot to delete their accounts I guess. Has anyone else seen a huge gap between signups and real engagement like that?

The 200 out of 10,000 number is brutal but it's pretty normal honestly. Most people sign up for things out of curiosity or because they liked the idea of being organized, then they just never come back. The real metric that matters is that weekly active number, not the total signups. You gotta figure out what those 200 people are doing differently from the rest. Maybe they're using a specific feature that the other 9,800 never even saw or tried. Or maybe your onboarding process needs to be way more aggressive about getting people to actually use the tool within the first 24 hours before they forget about it entirely. A lot of apps live or die on that first session experience, if people don't get hooked right away they're gone forever. It's a total bummer but at least you know what's real now instead of fooling yourself with vanity numbers.
