Just realized I used to read every failed startup's TechCrunch post-mortem, now I look at their old job listings on Wayback Machine
Back in 2019 I probably read 50 startup failure stories a year, all the medium posts and the founder threads on here. Now I skip those and go straight to the Internet Archive, pulling their old careers page from 6 months before they shut down. I checked a delivery startup that closed in Austin last March and they had 14 open roles listed three weeks before the shutdown email went out. That mismatch tells me way more than any founder's apology post ever did. The old me wanted the story, the new me wants the receipts. What sites or tools do you all use to dig into a dead startup before you trust the official version?
