My uncle in Denver bet me $50 that our parking app would flop, and he was right in 8 weeks
Back in 2019 my uncle Larry, who ran a hardware store for 30 years, looked at our parking spot sharing app and just said people won't pay to park in a stranger's driveway, they'll circle the block for 20 minutes instead. We raised $12,000 from friends and family and launched in Denver anyway, and he was dead right. We got 400 signups in the first 3 weeks but only 11 people ever booked a spot, and most of those were our own friends doing it to be nice. The app died after 8 weeks and I still owe my cousin $200 from the money he put in. Has anyone else had a family member call their startup's death months before it happened?
