Rant: my old cofounder called me out on a walk in Austin and it stung
He asked why we shut down in 2022 when our app had 4,000 signups, and I finally admitted we never talked to more than 12 of them. Anyone else build something for a year without checking if people actually wanted it?
12 conversations is more than most people do before launch, so you at least had some signal. The hard part wasn't the number, it was that you didn't ask them the right things early enough to change course.
