After 20 years in the shop, I finally trust dielectric grease again

I used to think that stuff was snake oil for a long time, like it just kept dirt in place. But last month I was chasing a random misfire on a Freightliner in Nashville and the dealer tech swore by it on the ECM harness pins. I pulled the plug, dabbed a thin layer on, and it's been four weeks without a repeat. Has anyone else had a similar flip on a product they wrote off early in their career?
