Everyone says shop work is king, but my Alaska trip proved otherwise.

You learn more from an engine in the snow than a warm garage.

Jesus, Alaska? That's a whole different level of rough. The idea of trying to turn a wrench with numb fingers or having a part freeze in place before you can get it bolted on is wild. A warm shop lets you take your time and think. Out there, it's just you versus the cold and a broken machine that needs to work right now. That's some serious trial by ice.

Know guys who work the North Slope rigs. Seen diesel turn to jelly and steel crack like glass if you look at it wrong. That kind of cold changes everything, makes simple jobs a fight. Serious respect for anyone who gets it done out there.
