Had a injector line blow on me at a truck stop outside Flagstaff last weekend

The line let go right after I finished a retorque on the head, spraying hot diesel everywhere while I was still standing on the frame rail - has anyone else had a new line fail like that after torquing to spec?

Wait a retorque on the head shouldn't have anything to do with the injector lines though. Those are separate circuits - the line pressure comes from the pump, not the head bolt torque. Sounds like you might've had a hairline crack already going and the vibration from the retorque job just finished it off. I had a line let go on a 6.0 once and it was because I didn't replace the crush washers, not because I touched the head.

Damn, last time that happened to me the fan clutch locked up right after and I almost lost a hand.

Yeah I used to think crush washers were overrated but you're making me reconsider that.
