Old timer told me to check fuel return line first and I laughed
I wasted 3 days chasing electrical gremlins on a 12-valve before I finally blew out that return line and found a chunk of crud. Any of you guys got a piece of advice you ignored for way too long before it saved your bacon?

That chunk of crud in the return line, was it like a hard black flake or more of a soft gel type thing? I had a 12 valve years back and mine was this nasty black tar looking stuff that came out in strings. Made me wonder if it was from old fuel sitting or if the rubber line was breaking down from the inside. Did you check your tank for any other debris after you cleared the return? Ended up dropping my tank and finding a whole layer of sludge at the bottom that was the real root cause.

2004 Duramax. Same chunk of crud story. Ignored the return line for a full weekend.
