Rolled 420,000 miles on my 2006 5.9 in Kansas City and I actually pulled over
Was driving back from a job in Kansas City last week and the odometer on my 06 Cummins clicked over 420,000. I pulled off at a truck stop in Grain Valley just to sit there and look at it for a minute. Bought that truck in 2011 with 118k on it, and the only major work has been one clutch and a water pump. Still original injectors, still runs strong, though the dash has more cracks than a dry lakebed. What's the highest mileage you guys have pushed one of these before you finally let it go?
How many of you guys actually keep a log of every repair or is it more of a "I'll remember it" thing? I used to roll my eyes at guys who tracked every oil change and part in a notebook, thought it was kinda overkill. But watching my buddy hit 500k on his 7.3 while my other friend's truck fell apart at 200k, the difference was mostly that the notebook guy caught stuff early. Now I write down everything, even the small stuff like when a u-joint starts chirping. It's saved me twice already from getting stranded on a job site.
