The injector I swapped last week dropped my fuel temp by 15 degrees

I was chasing a hot fuel issue on a buddy's 6.7 Powerstroke, pulling a trailer up I-5 near Salem. The #3 injector had a bad return line seal, dumping high pressure fuel right back into the rail. Replaced it with a rebuilt unit from the local diesel shop, and his fuel temp went from 195 to 180 after a 30 minute pull. Anyone else see big temp swings from just one bad injector?

15 degrees isn't that crazy tbh.

Jumped in on this exact thing last month with my 7.3. Had a #5 that was leaking back like crazy, replaced the whole injector and my fuel temps dropped by about 18 degrees on a long grade. @beth_ward80, 15 degrees is actually a decent chunk when you're talking about keeping things in the safe zone. Hot fuel kills these HEUI systems faster than people realize. I'd say check your ICP and IPR duty cycle too, a bad injector will make the high pressure pump work harder and cook the fuel even more. That temp drop you saw probably saved some wear on the pump and the rest of the injectors.
