Vent: Rebuilt the same injector 3 times before I found the real problem

Honestly, I was about to lose it on this old 7.3 Powerstroke over in Medford last month. Customer said it was running rough and blowing white smoke, so I pulled the injectors, tested them, found one bad, swapped it with a reman unit. Truck ran fine for two days, then same thing again. Did that dance twice more, each time blaming the reman quality or bad fuel. Finally on the third go around I decided to check the wiring harness pin at the valve cover gasket before touching anything else. Turns out the connector had a cracked terminal that was dropping voltage only when the engine got hot. That little 12 cent pin cost me 8 hours of labor over three visits. I charged the guy for the first two visits but ate the third, just told him the parts warranty covered it. Has anyone else had a gremlin like that where the fix kept failing and it ended up being something stupid simple, not the part itself?
