Ran the stock turbo or dropped $1,400 on a bigger one for my tow rig, went with the cheap route
Had my 2012 Cummins pulling a 9k lb trailer through the hills outside Knoxville and the EGTs were hitting 1,350 on every long grade, so I had a real choice to make. Could've dropped $1,400 on a drop-in turbo upgrade or just added a $180 boost tube and retuned it. Went with the tube and tune since the truck only tows maybe 6 weekends a year. Boost comes on about 200 rpm sooner now and I'm holding 1,200 on the same hills, no complaints so far. Anybody running the bigger turbo think I'm leaving real power on the table?
