A quick chat with a colorblind friend changed how I see palettes

I was showing off my latest landscape piece at a local meetup in Austin last Friday, and this guy named Mike mentioned he couldn't tell my sunset gradients apart from the grass. He said a lot of digital art relies on red-green contrast, which just disappears for him. It made me rethink my whole approach to accessibility in my showcase pieces, you know? Has anyone else adjusted their color choices for something like that?

That bit about sunset gradients looking the same as grass really got me. I had a similar moment a few years back when my buddy couldn't tell which team was which in Rocket League because of the orange and blue. Now I catch myself doing the colorblind accessibility check in all my hobby projects, even just for fun. It's wild how much we lean on color contrast without even realizing it, and once you start seeing it, you can't unsee it.

Did you read that study about how colorblind modes actually help everyone see better?
