Color dodge layer changed my whole shading style
I spent like 6 months trying to get my digital paintings to pop but shadows always looked flat and muddy. Then a guy in a discord server said try a color dodge layer at 30% opacity for the highlights instead of just darkening. Has anyone else found a random layer trick that totally changed their workflow?

Oh man, color dodge was a game changer for me too. I was doing the same thing with muddy shadows until someone showed me the light.
