Last month I spent 6 hours coloring a digital portrait only to realize I had the layer locked the whole time

Has anyone else ever poured hours into a piece just to find out you were working on a completely empty layer the entire time?

Man this hits hard. I actually did the opposite once. Spent 4 hours painting on a locked layer trying to figure out why my brush wasn't working. Thought my tablet driver broke. Almost reinstalled everything before I checked the layers panel. The worst part was the layer had a random shape locked from an old sketch. So I was just angrily scribbling on this invisible box thinking my pressure sensitivity died. You probably felt that same sinking feeling when you zoomed out and saw nothing but a blank canvas.

My friend did something similar once with a music production project. He spent three hours tweaking a synth sound and adding effects, only to realize the track was muted the entire time. He had the volume fader all the way down and was just staring at waveform patterns going nowhere. That moment when you finally hit play and hear nothing but silence is just brutal, makes you want to throw your computer out the window.
