Last saw the digital art scene in 2010 and walked into a gallery in Portland last month
I used to go to these digital art showcases back in 2010 at small indie spaces. Everything was projectors on white walls and messy cables everywhere. Last month I walked into a gallery in Portland that does digital showcases now and I could not believe the difference. They had these huge OLED panels flush mounted into the wall, no wires visible, and the pieces were all interactive using motion sensors. One piece tracked your shadow and changed colors based on your movement. Felt like stepping into a different era. Anyone else visited an old haunt recently and felt completely out of date?

Honestly used to think interactive art was gimmicky but that shadow piece sounds legitimately cool.

Wait, you actually thought all interactive art was gimmicky? Have you never seen those pieces where your shadow turns into birds or something?
