Spent 6 hours trying to fix a drawing tablet pen lag issue
I was working on a piece for a client last Tuesday and my pen started lagging like crazy. I thought it was the battery or the nib so I swapped both out. Nothing changed. Then I checked the driver software and reinstalled it twice. Still lagging. I even reset the tablet settings to factory default and it did nothing. Turns out it was a background Windows update that was eating up my CPU. I closed that process and boom the pen worked fine. That whole thing took me 6 hours to figure out and I was so close to just throwing the tablet in the trash. Has anyone else had a simple software thing mess up your tablet for no reason?

Oh man, I feel your pain. That "close to just throwing the tablet in the trash" bit hit home because I've been there more than once with tech problems. It's always the dumbest thing too, like a background update you'd never think to check.

I used to be the guy who would just keep banging my head against the wall with tech stuff, convinced it was some huge hardware failure. Thought I had it all figured out, that my computer was just junk. Then last month my laptop wouldn't connect to wifi, spent three hours reinstalling drivers and checking settings, finally gave up and the next day it just worked - turns out it was a Windows update that needed a restart it never prompted me for. So yeah, you're probably right, it's always some dumb little background thing you'd never guess.
