I finally asked my 14 year old niece why she scrolls past all my client's ads
My niece was over at my place in Sacramento last weekend and I watched her flick through Instagram for maybe 20 minutes straight. I asked her why she skipped every single ad that popped up, and she shrugged and said "they all look like ads, duh." That one got me. Here I am building out targeting and copy for small business clients, and a 14 year old just told me the whole game in four words. She said the only stuff she actually watches is when it looks like a person just filmed something in their kitchen or car. So now I'm testing raw phone footage for a couple of client accounts instead of the polished stuff. Anyone else had a teenager wreck their whole approach to creative?
