I thought email subject lines were a waste of time until a test at my shop changed my mind
I run a small painting crew and always figured subject lines were just fluff, so I kept sending plain ones like "Quote follow up" for years. Last month my wife, who does marketing for a dentist in Spokane, made me try a fun one: "Your walls called, they want a new color." Open rate on that batch jumped from 18% to 41% according to Mailchimp, and we booked 3 extra estimates that week. Now I spend 10 minutes on subject lines and feel dumb for all the years I skipped it. Has anyone tested emojis in subject lines for a home service business, or does that backfire with older customers?
