Can we talk about people calling themselves digital nomads when they just took a 2 week trip to Bali?
I keep seeing people on here talking about how they 'nomad' for a month in Chiang Mai or whatever, but they are just on vacation with a laptop. Actually running a crew back home while I hop between 3 different countries a year is a whole different beast. How do you even handle tax residency when you are gone for 8 months straight like I do? Just buying a plane ticket and working from a cafe for 2 weeks does not make you a nomad in my book. Am I off base here?

Oh come on, gatekeeping being a digital nomad is a bad look. That two week trip to Bali might be someone's first step into this lifestyle, not their final form. Who cares how long they stay, they're still working remotely from another country and that counts for something.

Two weeks in Bali with a laptop in a cafe isn't being a digital nomad, it's an expensive vacation with some emails thrown in. The whole point of this lifestyle is building a sustainable way to work from anywhere, not just taking a brief trip and calling it a career move.
