Hot take: coworking spaces are mostly a waste of money and a hostel lobby works fine
Paid $220 a month for a coworking spot in Medellin for 3 months, then moved to a $14 hostel with fast wifi and got more done because nobody there was trying to network me into a crypto pitch.
That "nobody there was trying to network me into a crypto pitch" line is too real. I did the same thing in Mexico City last year, paid around $200 a month for a spot and spent half my time dodging guys who wanted to tell me about their web3 startup. Hostel route saved me a ton and honestly the wifi was better than the coworking place most days. My main tip is check the hostel reviews for the words "fast wifi" and "quiet" before you book, cause some are party spots and you'll get nothing done. Also grab a bottom bunk near a plug and a cheap pair of headphones, that combo beats any fancy desk setup. The one thing coworking does better is calls, so book a small room for those ten minutes you actually need it.
