Hot take: coworking spaces used to feel more real back in 2018
I was at a coworking spot in Medellin last week and it just felt different. Not bad, just kind of polished and Instagrammy compared to how it was 6 years ago when I first started traveling. Back then you'd show up and half the tables had duct tape on the chairs and the wifi would cut out at 3pm every day. Now everyone's got noise cancelling headphones and nobody talks to each other. Has anyone else noticed the vibe shift or is it just me?

Isn't it funny how we used to brag about surviving the janky wifi and duct tape, and now we're complaining about it being too nice? I remember my first coworking spot in Chiang Mai had a fan that sounded like a dying lawnmower, and I felt so cool working there. Now I walk into these places with my beat up laptop and feel like I'm underdressed for a photoshoot. Guess I traded broken chairs for fancy coffee and zero conversation.
