I finally dumped coworking spaces after 6 months in Medellin
Everyone told me I HAD to get a coworking membership to stay productive but honestly the loud clubs next door and bad WiFi at WeWork in Poblado drove me nuts. Started working from a quiet cafe called Cafe Velvet near Laureles instead and saved $200 a month. Anyone else feel coworking spaces are overhyped for nomads or am I just unlucky with my picks?

and honestly the Laureles vibe is so much better anyway lol. I did the whole Poblado WeWork thing for a month and felt like I was in a weird corporate bubble with bad internet and overpriced coffee. Cafe Velvet is legit though, I found this spot called Pergamino in Laureles that has solid WiFi and never had the music blasting. The thing with coworking spaces is they sell this idea of productivity but half the time you're just paying for a desk next to someone on a loud zoom call. I think people push them because they're easy to recommend, not because they're actually the best option for everyone. If you're disciplined enough to just go to a quiet cafe and set boundaries, you're saving cash and honestly getting better work done.

That's a fair point @sam_scott59, though I've seen plenty of people at cafes camp out all day nursing one coffee while the WiFi craps out at 3pm. Your mileage may vary on the whole cafe thing, some spots are great and others are just loud with bad tables.
