My Airbnb wifi died in Medellin so I ran a 40 foot ethernet cable out a third floor window
Last month in Medellin the wifi at my apartment just quit on me at 9am on a Monday with a client call at 10. I checked the router, reset it twice, and the light stayed red for 25 minutes. The neighbor across the courtyard had their window open and I could see a router blinking away in there, so I asked if I could pay them 50 mil pesos to borrow the signal. They said yes, and I strung a 40 foot cable from their window to mine, tied it to a broom handle so the pigeons would not rip it down. The call went fine and honestly that cable hung there for 6 days. Now I carry a 50 foot cable in my bag everywhere, has anyone else had to do something this dumb to get online?
