My friend in Lisbon swore that a $15/month local SIM was better than my global plan, and after my eSIM failed in Split, I had to admit she was right.

I mean, I was paying like $80 a month for my fancy global data, but it just gave up in Croatia while her cheap local card from Vodafone worked perfectly, so has anyone found a good provider for the Balkans?

My global plan ghosted me in Sarajevo once, had to use cafe wifi like a peasant. Lesson learned the hard way.

Got stuck in Prague with the same issue. I always buy a local SIM card now, even for short trips. The ones at the airport kiosks are overpriced. Just go to a mall or a phone store in the city center. You can get a month of data for about ten bucks.

What took you so long to figure that out? Global plans are a total scam. Just grab a local sim at a corner store, it's not rocket science.
