Overheard a guy at the co-working space say Wi-Fi is Wi-Fi
Honestly, I was grabbing coffee at a co-working spot in Medellin last week when this dude told a new arrival that any Wi-Fi works for remote work. Ngl, that's just wrong if you're doing video calls or uploading big files. I've been burned before with slow connections costing me a client meeting in Bali. For $50 a month, I hunt down places with at least 50 Mbps upload speed and a backup hotspot. Anyone else factor in internet speed over cool views when picking a spot?

actually checking speed is like step 5 or 6 for me. I always start with looking at the actual connection first, like is the wifi symbol showing up on my phone, is the modem blinking like it should be. then I'll do a quick ping test to see if there's packet loss, because speed doesn't matter if you're dropping packets left and right. after that then yeah, I'll run a speed test. what's your usual order of things when you first notice internet acting up?
