Shoutout to the coworking space in Chiang Mai that made me check my router settings
I spent 2 months at a coworking spot in Chiang Mai called Yellow and the wifi kept dropping during client calls. I finally asked the front desk guy and he showed me that everyone was on the same 2.4 GHz band, which is why my uploads crawled at 0.5 Mbps around 3pm. He told me to switch my laptop to the 5 GHz network and my call quality went from garbage to totally fine in about 10 seconds. The thing is, nobody at the space ever mentioned this, so I had been blaming my mic and my headphones for weeks. Check your band settings before you complain about the internet, it might save you a lot of headache. Has anyone else run into this at a coworking spot, or is it just a Thailand thing?
Felt this in my soul, I wasted a whole week blaming my headset before someone told me the same thing at a spot in Lisbon. It's not a Thailand thing at all, it's just that most coworking places never bother telling you there are two networks, so everyone piles onto 2.4 and wonders why calls drop at peak hours. Glad the front desk guy actually knew his stuff instead of just shrugging at you.
