TIL 5GB hotspot isn't enough for one Sunday in Bangkok

I bought the 5GB data add-on last month thinking it would cover a work week in Chiang Mai, but after one video call with a client and a quick upload of edited photos I burned through it in about 6 hours. Now I'm stuck hunting for cafe wifi in Bangkok and paying 300 baht extra for a top-up that feels like robbery. Does anyone else here carry a backup SIM from a different carrier for these exact situations, or do you just plan around data limits?
