Hit 10 years with my guide dog this month and it caught me off guard

I was just counting up the years and realized it's been a decade since they matched me with my first guide dog. That dog got me through three different jobs and two moves before retiring last year. Has anyone else been surprised by how fast the time goes with a mobility aid?

Honestly, blur together? More like they stamped a concrete slab right over each year and poured a fresh one on top. The only thing that ever changes is whose turn it is to pick up takeout on the way home. You start measuring time in "before the basement flood" and "after the kid's school play." Meanwhile I'm just over here trying to remember if it's Tuesday or Thursday without checking my phone. Ngl, at this point I'm pretty sure my wife is just a long-term roommate with benefits and a shared Amazon account.
