PSA: that $95 'disability tax' webinar was just a guy reading the SSA website out loud
Signed up for a 90 minute webinar called 'Get Your Benefits Approved' after seeing it shared in three different groups, and it was literally a dude in his kitchen reading Blue Book listings off a screen while a chat full of people asked real questions he could not answer, so save your money and read the official site for free, but now I want to know if anyone has found an actual advocate worth paying in the Phoenix area.

I paid $200 for a "disability consultant" back in 2019 who told me to file online and wait, so you are already ahead of me by only losing $95 to a guy in his kitchen. That said, there are real advocates out there, you just have to know what to look for. A good one will ask about your work history and medical records in the first call, not promise you approval. Ask if they are accredited through SSA and check them on the SSA site before handing over any money. Most of the bad ones charge upfront and do nothing, while the decent ones take a cut of your back pay only if you win. In Phoenix, try calling your local Arizona Center for Disability Law or ask a lawyer who does SSDI appeals, they will point you to someone real.
