Rant: I used to assume every event had wheelchair access until I got stranded at a venue in St. Louis last month

I showed up after they confirmed it was accessible, but the only ramp was blocked by dumpsters with no way around. Now I call ahead and ask specific questions like ramp width and working elevators, how do you guys double check venues before you go?

Oh come on, you're really going to blame the venue over some dumpsters? lol. I bet if you showed up 10 minutes before the show and saw that, you could have just called someone or asked the staff to move them. It's not like they built a wall - it's trash cans that take 30 seconds to wheel out of the way. If you confirmed it was accessible and then got stranded without even trying to find a back door or a phone number on the door, that's on you for not thinking on your feet. People act like venues are out to ruin their night when most places would move a dumpster if you just asked nicely.

Call the place ahead of time and ask them to move the dumpsters before you get there. If you just show up and expect them to drop everything to help you, that's on you. A 30 second phone call could've fixed the whole thing before you even left your house.
