That time a cashier at Target told me I 'didn't look disabled' in front of my kid
I was buying sunscreen in Austin last Saturday and this middle aged guy at the register said 'you don't look like you need a wheelchair' right as my daughter asked why I have my cane today, has anyone else gotten a comment like that from a complete stranger?

Oh the "you don't look disabled" thing gets me every time. Like sorry my chronic pain isn't dressed up in a cast for you to see. Glad your daughter asked first instead of assuming, kids are way better at that than adults.

Funny story, I got told once that I was "too young" to have a bad back. I was like 24 and just trying to buy a heating pad at CVS. The cashier actually patted me on the shoulder and said "it'll get better when you're older." I still don't know what that was supposed to mean. Anyway, my point is people really do think they can diagnose you based on nothing but a glance. Your daughter asking questions is way better than her learning to just stare in silence like most adults do.
